Singer Hisham Abbas surprised everybody by announcing that he was ready to run for Chief Musician, on the syndicate elections that are supposed to take place in three months, after this transitional period is over. It is worth mentioning that musician Hassan Sharara is heading the syndicate temporarily since musician Hassan Abul-Soo'oud had passed away suddenly last week.

Hisham Abbas has already started making calls and renewing his connections with musicians and singers of great caliber in order to get their support and votes. Abbas  ensured them of his capability to offer his fellow musicians many services, for he is well-aware of their needs and demands.

Abbas asserted that the idea of nominating himself came as the result of the requests he received from many of his musician friends and colleagues.
Apart from the syndicate, Abbas has already finished recording a new duet with Turkish singer Safeya, composed by Khaled Ezz. Abbas decided that he would add this duet to the album he is planning to release in the summer, denying the rumors that claimed that the delay of the album was the result of disputes between him and his producer Mohsen Gaber (Alam El-Fann). Abbas affirmed that this delay was due to his carefulness with choosing his songs, so that the album would make up for his elongated absence.

It is known that artist Afaf Rady refrained from running for Chief Musician after listening to the advice of her friends, satisfied with being a board member in the syndicate.
